Chabad of Tasmania has an opportunity to purchase a large property in Launceston with endless opportunity for growth and expansion.

The home is built on a 3,600sqm piece of land and would function as the Central Chabad Centre in Tasmania. In, addition it will be able to house the Rabbi and his family.

One of the many essential, features of Chabad of Tasmania is hosting functions over Shabbat and Jewish Holidays. These get-togethers include everything “from soup to nuts” and provide a home away from home for Jews throughout Tasmania. This provides the wider community the opportunity to come together.

With the purchase of a large space, Chabad hopes to build accommodation units upon the property. This will provide a place to stay for those coming, from different areas of Tasmania, for Shabbat and Jewish Holidays. Accommodation on site, can also be offered to travellers from interstate and overseas looking for somewhere to stay with easy access to Kosher food.

Further expansion would include the building of a Mikvah. Having a state of the art, beautiful facility will facilitate the observance of the special mitzvah of Family Purity, with easy access to Jewish woman in Tasmania, as well as visitors who require it’s usage.

Although we will be able to use the current space as a temporary Synagogue, we intend to expand with a larger Shule on the property.
